Senada Phinisi
The last snorkel: Siaba or Sebayur
Updated 26 October 2026
Sebayur Kecil island quiet stop, Komodo route: called Siaba or Sebayur Island, on day 3 of the Senada Phinisi trip. A mild current, a reef of 2 to 10 metres, and then the boat heads back, reaching Labuan Bajo around midday.
What the third morning is
Day 3 is short and gentle. Breakfast, a snorkel at Siaba or Sebayur Island, and the sail back to Labuan Bajo, arriving around midday. After the Padar climb and the current at Manta Point, it is the morning for tired legs.
Sebayur is the larger island of the Sebayur group, near Flores. The boat ride out of Labuan Bajo lasts between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours. With beaches and reefs close by, this is a snorkelling stop. It is outside the dragon trekking area, so no ranger walk is part of the morning.
In the water you have 45 to 90 minutes. The reef is 2 to 10 metres deep, the current is mild, and everyone in the group can manage it.
On the 3-day trip this stop is on day 3. On the 4-day sample route it comes on day 3, after the walk on Komodo Island and lunch.

Siaba or Sebayur: the captain's choice
Either Siaba or Sebayur Island can be the stop, and the captain picks one that morning after reading the weather and the sea.
A group can plan for either. Both are snorkel stops, so the gear is the same and the morning is the same. There is no separate page for Siaba here; this page covers the stop.
We promise the snorkel only as far as the sea allows. If the weather says no, the captain chooses another place for the group to swim, or heads for the harbour.
If anyone needs the earliest possible return for a flight, tell us, and we plan the day around the flight.
Snorkelling with the group
This is the easy snorkel of the trip. The reef begins within reach of the beach, in a mild current. Depth goes from 2 to 10 metres: deeper water for the confident ones, a shallow edge for everybody else.
Pass the snorkel along. Take turns in the canoe, which is on board, and let the children go first with a parent in the water. Snorkel gear and life jackets are supplied, and the guide shows the group the life jackets.
By day 3 the group knows how it swims. Some have become the ones who lead the way, and some have become the ones who hold the towels. This is the stop where that is a pleasure and not a test.
We promise nothing about what the reef shows. The sea decides, and the captain decides.
Back to Labuan Bajo around midday
After the snorkel the boat sails back to Labuan Bajo, arriving around midday on the 3-day trip, and we take the group to the hotel or the airport. Drop-off is in the price.
Book flights after 14:00. The harbour, the transfer and the luggage take time, and a morning that ends at the pier is not a morning that ends at the gate.
On the 4-day sample route the third day carries this snorkel, and the boat sails back on day 4. The 2-day route does not include this stop.
The return is the last thing the group does together. Count heads on the pier, take the group photograph, and say the goodbyes before the vans.
FAQ
Why Siaba or Sebayur?
The stop is called Siaba or Sebayur Island. Weather and sea are what the captain reads before choosing, that day. Both are snorkel stops, so the gear and the morning are the same.
Is it shallow?
Because the reef is 2 to 10 metres deep and the current mild, the shallow edge and the deeper part are both there. The level suits everyone who can float in a life jacket. The sea decides what the reef shows, and the guide tells the group where to go in.
Is it on the 2-day route?
No. The Siaba or Sebayur snorkel is day 3 of the 3-day route, and day 3 of the 4-day sample route. The 2-day route ends after Manta Point on day 2.
Is it good for children?
Yes. The current is mild, the reef is within reach of the beach, and there is no walk and no ranger. Children wear life jackets and snorkel with a parent. It is the easy stop of the trip.
