Eight stops on the loop, in the order the boat meets them

Updated 26 October 2026

Komodo Islands boat route stops, Padar, Pink Beach, Rinca: Senada Phinisi makes eight, in this order: Kelor, Rinca, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Taka Makassar, Manta Point and last Siaba or Sebayur. Every stop has a page of its own, and the captain settles the order on the day.

The stops, with one line each

Eight stops make the loop, and each one asks something different of a group. Kelor is a short hill on the first afternoon. Rinca is a ranger walk among the dragons. Kalong is the bats leaving at dusk, watched from the deck. Padar is the sunrise climb on day 2. Pink Beach is beach time, Taka Makassar a sandbank, Manta Point a current, and Siaba or Sebayur the last snorkel before the sail home.

The cards below link each stop to its own page. Read the ones that worry the group first. The grandparents will open Padar, the parents Manta Point, and the children will skip to Rinca.

Two more places sit nearby and are not stops on the 2-day or 3-day route. Komodo Island appears on the 4-day sample route as a walk on day 3, and the page on the dragons covers both islands. Kanawa is on none of the routes.

Where each stop falls on the 2, 3 and 4-day routes

On the 2-day and 3-day routes, day 1 runs Kelor, then Rinca, then Kalong at sunset, with lunch before the first sail and dinner on board. Day 2 starts on the Padar path at sunrise. Breakfast follows, then Pink Beach, lunch, and the pair of Taka Makassar and Manta Point.

The 3-day route adds a third morning: breakfast, a snorkel at Siaba or Sebayur, and the sail back to Labuan Bajo around midday. The 2-day route ends after Manta Point on day 2, and the return time depends on the sea.

For 4 days the route is a sample route. It keeps the stops above and adds a walk on Komodo Island and a snorkel at Sebayur on day 3. Day 4 is free time at Kelor, with the return around midday. The final order is confirmed with the captain and in writing before you pay.

Who decides the order

Read the order on this page as the plan, not as a promise: the captain has the last word that day. Tide moves the sandbank. Current moves Manta Point and Taka Makassar, which swap places when the water asks for it. Weather moves everything, and the harbour authority can close the park to tourist boats.

Wildlife is the rangers' ground. They set the path on the island walks, and a sighting is never promised. The bats leave when they leave.

The group has a say in the things it controls. The group walks together on the islands, and at the beach each person chooses between the water, the sand and the shade of the deck. Say what matters most when you message us, and the guide keeps it in mind when the order is set.

FAQ

Which stop is the easiest?

Kalong, because the group watches the bats from the deck and nobody climbs. For easy water, look at Pink Beach, Taka Makassar and Sebayur, all shallow swims or snorkels; for an easy walk, Rinca with a ranger. The captain puts the stops in their order on the day.

Which stop is the hardest?

Padar is the one for the legs. Padar means steps and loose path, 25 to 45 minutes of them before the main viewpoint, and the walk begins before sunrise. Manta Point for the swimmers, because the current is strong and the guide decides who goes in. Nobody in the group has to do either.

Is Rinca or Komodo better?

Neither is better, and the routes differ. Rinca is on every route, as a ranger walk on day 1. Komodo Island appears only on the 4-day sample route, as a walk on day 3. No sighting is promised on either island, and the rangers decide the path on both.

Is Kanawa on the route?

No. Kanawa is not on the routes of this boat, so no page describes it and no price includes it. Stops in plan order: Kelor, Rinca, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Taka Makassar, then Manta Point, then Siaba or Sebayur.
